Ubeda A 17 Year Teenage Mother Who Returned To School

Ubeda Tamimu is a 17-year-old teenage mother in Northern Ghana who returned to school after having a baby at age 13. She was able to go back to school through an education project by the Centre for Rural Improvement Services (CRIS), funded by STAR-Ghana, that advocates for policy implementation to support school re-entry for teenage mothers. CRIS has helped 57 young mothers return to school by working with communities to identify girls and engage families. However, the girls face challenges providing for basic needs. Ubeda's story demonstrates the life-changing impact of enacting policies that give young mothers a second chance at education.
